September 10-16, six days
Escape to the crystalline waters and sun-drenched vineyards of the Dalmatian Coast. This tour is an intimate exploration of Croatia’s most unique viticultural regions, blending world-class wine with spectacular Adriatic scenery.
Our tour starts in Dubrovnik, a UNESCO recognized city famous for its perfectly preserved and continuous fortifications from the 13th century, and its superb Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque monasteries, palaces, and fountains.
Upon leaving Dubrovnik, we venture to the historic salt flats of Ston then onto the majestic Pelješac Peninsula. This mountainous, sun-baked landscape is famous for its steep, dramatic vineyards hanging over the Adriatic. We’ll dive deep into this region, which is renowned for producing Croatia’s most powerful red wines, including:
- Plavac Mali: The region’s flagship grape and the “son” of Zinfandel.
- Crljenak Kaštelanski: The Croatian parent of Plavac Mali, internationally known as Zinfandel.
We then leave the peninsula and head to the island of Korčula, where refreshing white wines dominate the scene. We’ll sample the crisp, aromatic Pošip grape, which is indigenous to Korčula Island, and the rare Grk, which is exclusively grown in the sandy soils near the town of Lumbarda.
Our journey winds down on the ancient, double-bridged island of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we enjoy the daily markets, a local cooking class, the stunning waterfront, marble alleyways, hidden courtyards, tiny churches, stone houses, and carved balconies, concluding our immersion into the best of Dalmatia.
